About Dominique 'Faif' Owens

Dominique “FAIF” Owens is a Louisville native whose journey from tragedy to triumph has inspired thousands. In 2014, he survived a devastating car crash that took the lives of his best friend Kerry Benson and Kerry’s girlfriend Germina Cruz. That moment became a turning point — leading him to write FALLEN TEARS, a tribute that still resonates with audiences today. From music to writing, Dominique found healing through expression.

Fueled by purpose, Dominique transitioned from artist to advocate — launching the FAIF Foundation to uplift overlooked communities. Whether he’s speaking at schools, mentoring youth, or providing essentials to those in need, his mission is clear: to meet people where they are and remind them they’re not alone.

Dominique is the 2022 Bridge to Light Award winner for mental health advocacy and a 2021 Louisville Tourism ROSE Awards Rising Star. As co-founder of MindFest, he helps lead one of Louisville’s largest mental health festivals. Through his books, speaking, and real-world outreach — he continues to use his voice to create change.
